Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a large public gathering in Bihar’s Siwan on Friday (20 June), launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, accusing them of pushing the state into poverty, neglecting Dalit icons, and fostering lawlessness during their rule.

“Bihar became a symbol of poverty under the rule of ‘Panja’ (Congress) and ‘Lantern’ (RJD). It is the NDA that has brought Bihar back on the path of development,” PM Modi was quoted as saying by Business Standard.

The rally coincided with the launch and foundation-laying of multiple infrastructure projects worth over Rs 5,200 crore across sectors such as water, rail, and power.

The initiatives aim to boost employment and improve connectivity across Bihar.

Attacking dynastic politics, PM Modi drew a sharp contrast between the governance of the NDA and that of the Opposition.

He said the NDA focused on “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” while the Congress-RJD alliance believed in “Parivaar Ka Saath, Parivaar Ka Vikas (Support of the Family, Development of the Family)”.

He said that Congress’ licence raj had kept Bihar poor for years, enriching the families of its leaders while the general population remained in poverty.

PM Modi accused the Opposition of having an "anti-Bihar, anti-investment mindset."

He said they had nurtured gunda raj, mafia raj, and corruption in the state.

According to him, the jungle raj rulers had completely shut down Bihar’s engine of development.

He added that today, a train engine made in Bihar would power trains in Africa, reflecting the emergence of a new India.

The Prime Minister praised the BJP-JD(U) government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for reviving development in the state.

PM Modi also referred to a recent controversy involving a viral video from RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s birthday.

"The whole country saw what the RJD did to Babasaheb's photo recently.... I know that these people will never apologise because they have no respect for the Dalits and the backwards. RJD and Congress place Babasaheb's photo at their feet while Modi keeps him in his heart," PM Modi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
