Three Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested In Delhi As Police Intensifies Crackdown Against Illegal Immigrants

Continuing its crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, the Delhi Police has arrested three people from Peeragarhi in Outer Delhi, reported The Hindu.

Acting on intelligence that a group of Bengali-speaking individuals was looking for accommodation in informal housing near the Peeragarhi camp, police teams launched a raid in the area.

A senior official stated that the suspects were spotted heading towards the Peeragarhi camp, behind the Kali Mata Mandir, engaging in a conversation in Bengali.

Their behavior raised suspicion, prompting authorities to intercept and interrogate them.

Initially, the men claimed to be residents of West Bengal, but after further interrogation, they revealed their real identities.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

• Safruddin (36) and Ibrahim (38) from Kurigram, northern Bangladesh

• Sorab (46) from Barguna, southern Bangladesh

Since December 2024, the Delhi Police has been conducting door-to-door verification drives on the orders of LG V K Saxena.

Special teams are also checking shelter homes, railway tracks, abandoned buildings, DDA parks, and scrap dealer sites, while collaborating with Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Market Welfare Associations to track down suspected illegal immigrants.
