Bengaluru police has arrested four people in connection with the deadly stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium, including a key Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) marketing official.

The stampede earlier this week during RCB's IPL victory celebrations, resulted in death of 11 people and injuring nearly 60 more, reported NDTV.

Nikhil Sosale, the RCB's top marketing official, was arrested by police at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru at around 6.30 am while on his way to Mumbai.

Sosale is in charge of all RCB promotional operations, serving as the key link between players and the franchise, as well as managing the team's social media.

The remaining arrested people are members of event management company DNA Entertainment Private Limited - Sunil Mathew (Vice President, handles IPL events for DNA), Kiran and Sumanth.

These arrests occurred after the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Earlier on Thursday (5 June), Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah suspended Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda and several other senior police officials in connection with the incident.

According to an official notification cited in the NDTV report, senior IPS officer Seemanth Kumar Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force, was "transferred with immediate effect and posted until further orders" as Additional Director General of Police and Bengaluru police commissioner.
