In a bid to improve outreach and fill more government vacancies, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will begin sending recruitment alerts directly to educational and professional institutions via email.
The move follows concerns that many posts remain vacant due to a lack of awareness among eligible candidates. Institutions interested in receiving these alerts can email ra-upsc@gov.in with the subject line: “Subscription Request – UPSC Recruitment Alerts”.
UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar said the new system is part of a wider outreach effort aimed at reaching deserving and qualified candidates. Alerts will be sent to universities, professional bodies, associations, and other recognised institutions.
The Commission receives more than 200 recruitment proposals each year. In 2025, over 240 proposals have already come in. These include roles in medical, engineering, scientific, legal, teaching, and finance sectors, mostly at Group A and Group B gazetted levels.
“Some posts attract very few applications. In other cases, no candidate meeting the required criteria is found. As a result, interviews are cancelled or posts remain vacant,” Dr. Kumar said.
Currently, UPSC advertises through the Employment News, its official website, and LinkedIn. The email alert system is expected to strengthen this outreach.
Dr. Kumar also urged Ministries and Departments to send their recruitment proposals between January and March each year. This would allow UPSC to plan better, combine similar cases, and conduct common tests to speed up the process.
The new system is aimed at ensuring wider awareness, better application numbers, and faster recruitment outcomes.
