US President-Elect Trump Mocks Canadian PM Trudeau, Calls Him "Governor" Of "Great State Of Canada"

United States President-elect Donald Trump has mocked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his social media platform Truth Social, referring to him as the “Governor of Canada.”
The comment follows a recent dinner meeting between the two leaders at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, where they discussed key trade and immigration issues.
Trudeau had traveled to Mar-a-Lago to address Trump’s proposed 25 per cent tariff on Canada, which the US President-elect warned would be imposed if Canada fails to curb the flow of illegal immigrants and illicit drugs into the United States.
“It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada," Trump said in his post.
During the meeting, Trudeau reportedly argued that such tariffs would devastate Canada’s economy.
In a Truth Social post, Trump mockingly wrote, “It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada.”
The remark drew attention for its apparent dismissal of Canada’s sovereignty.
Trump doubled down on his stance during the dinner, reportedly suggesting Canada could become the 51st state of the United States to avoid the tariff dispute.
He reiterated this in an NBC News interview over the weekend and again on Truth Social, where he stated, “I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in-depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all! DJT.”
This development marks an escalation in tensions between Trump and Trudeau, who have previously clashed over trade policies.
According to The New York Times, the president-elect’s latest comments represent a continuation of his hardline approach toward Canada, which he has criticised for perceived unfair trade practices.
