The Uttar Pradesh Police is searching for a Muslim cleric in Pilibhit who raped a Dalit woman on the pretext of exorcism and a Muslim man has been arrested for raping the woman multiple times.

The woman has accused the Muslim man named Firdaus of befriending her by introducing himself as a Hindu Dalit named Hridesh. The woman is married and her husband works as a labourer in Delhi.

She was staying at a village in the Pooranpur area when Firdaus came as a friend of her nephew. After the two individuals came close, Firdaus raped her multiple times and revealed his real identity.

On Saturday, when Firdaus was taking the woman to a hotel, Hindu organisations caught him and handed him over to the police. The woman then filed a complaint against Maulana and Firdaus.

She has alleged that four months ago when she fell sick, Firdaus took him to Maulana Noor Ahmed Azhari, who raped her by claiming it to be a part of the exorcist activity.

Pooranpur Station House Officer Rajiv Kumar Sharma has registered a case against both of them under the SC/ST Act and various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS).
