Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) demolished the house of Zeeshan Fatima, wife of gangster Atiq Ahmed's brother Ashraf on Thursday (20 June).

PDA Zonal officer N Hashmi said that the house was made on Waqf land a notice was served under section 27 of Uttar Pradesh Nagar Niyojan Vikas Adhiniyam 1973.

"They could not prove their ownership in response to the notice. Hence, the order to demolish it was passed, according to which the demolition took place today," he said.

He explained that the property was a G+2 under-construction building in a land of 30 ft X 70 ft dimensions. He asserted that due time was given to prove ownership but they could not do so.

Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed was killed with his brother Ashraf last year. Since, the duo's death, the PDA has taken several actions to take over his illegal properties.

One such example is from June last year when 76 flats constructed on land previously owned by Atiq Ahmed were allotted to underprivileged individuals through a lottery system.
