Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered a crackdown on individuals fraudulently availing government welfare schemes.

Acting on the CM's orders, authorities have begun identifying and acting against those who submitted fake documents to access benefits meant for economically weaker sections, reported Hindustan Times.

Investigations revealed that several people with annual incomes exceeding Rs 5 lakh had obtained ration cards meant for the poor.

These cards were then used to illegally generate Ayushman Bharat health cards and claim subsidised medical services.

After verifying documents, the Supply Department discovered many fake ration cards, prompting swift legal action.

Officials registered two separate FIRs at Kotwali Nagar and Thana Rajpur police stations in Dehradun.

The District Supply Officer and the Ayushman Bharat Department filed complaints with the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun.

CM Dhami emphasised a zero-tolerance policy, instructing that no ineligible person be spared and strict legal action be taken to prevent the abuse of public welfare resources.

On Saturday (5 July), the Chief Minister also flagged off the first group of pilgrims for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Tanakpur.

He welcomed the devotees at the Tourist Rest House and personally interacted with them.
