Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday (21 September) announced that the state government will provide a 50 per cent subsidy on electricity bills for consumers who use up to 100 units monthly.

For residents in the high Himalayan areas of the state, this usage limit will be increased to 200 units.

Dhami said that the state BJP government is committed to providing economic security to the weaker sections of the society.

"The state government will provide 50 percent subsidy to consumers who consume up to 100 units of electricity per month. For the high Himalayan regions, this standard will be up to 200 units. Our government is committed to providing economic security to the weaker sections of the society," Dhami said in a Hindi post on X.

While speaking about the newly passed anti-riot law, Dhami emphasised the significance of maintaining peace in the state.

"In the last session of the Assembly, the anti-riot law was passed. The Governor has given his approval, and after the anti-riot law is implemented, if anyone rioting inside the state damages government or private property, then compensation of each penny will be ensured from the same rioter," he said, ANI reported.

He added, "Our state is very peaceful. There is no place for riots, arson, and such vandalism here."
