After Bharatiya Janata Party-led Mahayuti's landslide victory in Maharashtra Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (23 November) addressed the party workers at BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

Victory of Development and Good Governance

PM Modi said that the BJP-led alliance's win in Maharashtra is the victory of "development, good governance, and true social justice".

"Today, lies, deceit, and fraud have been badly defeated in Maharashtra. Divisive forces have been defeated, negative politics has been defeated, dynastic politics has been defeated today," PM Modi said.

Strengthening the Vision of 'Viksit Bharat'

He said that the election result in Maharashtra has further strengthened the commitment to 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).

He congratulated and expressed gratitude to all the BJP workers for their hard work.

BJP's Strong Performance in Bypolls

PM Modi also highlighted BJP-led NDA's good performance in the Assembly bypolls held across several states.

"UP, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan have given full support to BJP. People of Assam have once again expressed their trust in BJP. We have also got success in Madhya Pradesh. Support for NDA has increased in Bihar too. This shows that the country now wants only development," he said.

Accepting the Mandate in Jharkhand

On Jharkhand, where BJP-led NDA was defeated by the ruling JMM-led INDI Alliance block, PM Modi said that he bows to the mandate given by the people of the state.

He added that BJP will work even harder for the rapid development of Jharkhand, and every single party worker will contribute their utmost efforts towards this goal.

Historic Victory in Maharashtra

On Maharashtra results, PM Modi said that this is the biggest victory for any party or any pre-poll alliance in the last 50 years.

He also reiterated the 'ek hain toh safe hain' mantra that was widely used by him during the election campaign.

"After Haryana, the biggest message of Maharashtra elections is unity. 'Ek hain toh safe hain' (If you are united, you are safe) – this has become the great mantra of the country today," he said.

Maharashtra Rejects Congress’s Divisive Politics

Slamming Congress, PM Modi said, "Congress and its ecosystem thought that by lying in the name of the Constitution and lying in the name of reservation, they would divide SC/ST/OBC into small groups. Maharashtra has completely rejected this conspiracy of Congress and its allies. Maharashtra has said it loudly: 'Ek hain toh safe.'"

Stamp on BJP's Governance Model

PM Modi pointed out that this is the third consecutive time that the BJP has emerged as the largest party in Maharashtra.

"This victory is a stamp on the BJP's governance model! The people of Maharashtra have given the BJP many more seats than the Congress and its allies combined. This shows that when it comes to good governance, the country trusts only the BJP and the NDA," he added.

Changed Mood of the Country

PM Modi said that the INDI Alliance parties are unable to understand the changed mood of the country.

"These people do not want to accept the truth, and underestimate the wisdom of the common Indian voter. The voter of the country is with the spirit of 'Nation First.' Those who dream of 'chair first' are not liked by the voters of the country," he added.

Voters Evaluating Governments Across States

Attacking Congress for making big election promises, PM Modi said that the voters of every state of the country also evaluate the governments of other states.

They see how the people who make big promises in one state perform in other states, he added.

"The people of Maharashtra have also seen how the Congress governments in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal are betraying the people and you will see this in Punjab too. Therefore the public has rejected the hypocrisy of Congress," PM Modi said.

Congress: A Parasitic Party

PM Modi also blamed Congress for the dismal performance of its MVA allies — NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) — in Maharashtra.

"The Congress has now become a parasitic party. Congress not only sinks its own ship but also drags down its allies'. Today, we witnessed the same in Maharashtra," he said.

Threats to Democracy: Family Politics and Urban Naxalism

PM Modi said that Congress's focus on prioritising family over the welfare of the people poses a grave threat to democracy.

"Congress party's sole focus is on the family, disregarding the welfare of the nation's people. A party that prioritises family over citizens poses a significant threat to democracy... Notably, Congress's alignment with urban Naxalism has emerged as a new challenge for India. It's alarming to note that these urban Naxalites are controlled by external forces, making it essential for everyone to exercise extreme caution," he said.
