Denying theories of India hitting Pakistan's nuclear storage facility situated in Kirana hills going on on social media, Air Marshal A K Bharti on Monday (12 May) said that India did not hit Kirana hills with a straight face.
During a press briefing, Air Marshal Bharti responded to the query by saying, "Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installation. We did not know about it… We have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there.”
However, the theory prevalent on social media suggests that India intentionally or unintentionally hit a target in the Kirana hills, which hit the nuclear material stored there, leading to the leak of some radioactive material.
Some claims also suggest that the United States (US) sent a plane to Pakistan to detect this radioactive leak, while Egypt sent a cargo plane carrying Boron, which is used to dampen radioactive materials to reduce their effect.
According to this theory, Pakistan pressed the panic button after this development, seeking the US's help for a ceasefire agreement. Notably, India announced on Saturday that a ceasefire understanding was reached over a hotline talk.
In response to another query regarding the role of drones in the armed conflict between India and Pakistan, he said that it was a different type of warfare and was bound to happen because every war is different with technological advancements.
However, he asserted that India is working on this technical advancement to be ahead of its adversaries in terms of technology. "Engagements were different, a lot of new aspects came out but we were prepared, trained and equipped for it," he said.
Air Marshal also credited the 'unwavering budgetary and policy support' given by the Government of India in the last decade, which ensured our air defence with the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment and weapon systems.
