Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam alleged that after the Ram Mandir verdict, Rahul Gandhi said that if Congress came to power, they would form a Superpower Commission to change the verdict.

On 9 November 2019, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Ramlalla Virajman, after which bhoomipujan was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5 August 2020 and pran-pratishtha on 22 January this year.

Krishnam recalled that he was in Congress for more than 32 years and this statement was made by Rahul Gandhi in a meeting with his close aides, on the advice of his "well-wisher living in America."

Most probably, Krishnam was referring to Sam Pitroda, who lives in USA and is considered close to Rahul Gandhi. Recently, Pitroda pulled Congress into controversy by praising the US inheritance tax.

"If our government is formed, then we will form Superpower Commission and change the Ram Mandir verdict, just like (former PM and Rahul's father) Rajiv Gandhi changed the Shah Bano verdict," Krishnam quoted Rahul Gandhi as saying.

In 1986, the Rajiv Gandhi government passed a law that practically upturned a Supreme Court ruling on maintenance for Muslim women after divorce following a huge uproar among the fundamentalists of the Muslim community.

"If Shah Bano verdict can be changed, then why can't the Ram Mandir verdict be changed," Krishnam, who was considered to be Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's aide, said quoting Rahul Gandhi while talking to ANI.
