The Ghaziabad Development Authority board on Tuesday (2 September) approved an industrial township and multi-modal logistic park at Modinagar and decided to shift land procurement for the Harnandipuram Township from direct purchase to acquisition, the Hindustan Times reported.
The 251-hectare industrial project at Modinagar received clearance with work expected to begin within six months after hiring a consultant.
GDA Vice Chairperson Atul Vats said the authority aims to develop this as a world-class project, with better financial conditions allowing completion in a single phase rather than the originally proposed two phases.
For the ambitious 521-hectare Harnandipuram Township, the board approved land acquisition after direct purchase efforts yielded only 20-25 hectares in three months.
The township will now proceed through acquisition for both Phase 1 covering five villages and Phase 2 covering three villages, requiring approximately 470 hectares.
The Modinagar project benefits from strategic positioning near Delhi-Meerut Road, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Namo Bharat's Meerut south station, and Mohiddinpur railway station.
Of the required land, 61.84 hectares comprise government property while 189.24 hectares must be procured from private landowners through mutual consent, acquisition, or negotiated development agreements.
The Harnandipuram Township involves land from eight villages: Mathurapur, Shamsher, Champat Nagar, Bhaneda Khurd, Nagla Firoz Mohanpur, Bhovapur, Shahpur Nij Morta, and Morta.
