Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an outpouring of greetings from global leaders on his 75th birthday on Wednesday, September 17. Messages highlighted his leadership, India’s progress, and close bilateral ties with their countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said, “Your work as head of government has earned you great respect from your compatriots and enormous prestige on the international stage.”
Praising India’s achievements, he added, “India has achieved impressive results in the social, economic, scientific and technological spheres,” and lauded Modi’s role in strengthening “the privileged strategic partnership” between the two nations.
Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called it “a great pleasure” to wish Modi. “In these uncertain times, we all need good friends, and Modi Ji has always been a good friend to me and to Britain,” he said, adding that UK-India ties continue to grow.
He recalled enjoying the England-India Test series and his India visit, calling it “a superb event.”
Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay conveyed “warmest wishes” from Bhutanese people, praying for Modi’s “good health, happiness and long life.”
New Zealand’s Christopher Luxon wrote, “Kia ora, namaskar, my good friend Prime Minister Modi,” and praised his vision to guide India towards development by 2047.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Prime Minister Modi, my good friend Narendra, I want to wish you a happy birthday… We have together accomplished a great deal in the friendship between India and Israel.”
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hailed their “strong friendship,” while Italy’s Giorgia Meloni lauded Modi’s “strength” and wished him “health and energy.”
US President Donald Trump called Modi to wish him and later said, “He is doing a tremendous job.”
Leaders from Guyana and Dominica, among others, also sent congratulatory messages emphasising Modi’s leadership role in the Global South.
The greetings reflected Modi’s global stature and India’s deepening partnerships worldwide.
