Soon after the Chhattisgarh election results, where BJP is set to return to power after five years, there has been a move to remove the mayor in Raipur.
The BJP councillor group called a meeting at the municipal office to bring a no-confidence motion against Mayor Ajaz Dhebar on Tuesday (5 December) at 12 noon.
During a discussion, late on Monday night, a meeting of Congress councillors took place at the residence of former minister Mohammad Akbar in Maudhapara. In this meeting, Mayor Ajaz Dhebar, along with Congress leaders, including MIC member Akash Sharma, were present.
BJP has also claimed that it is in touch with Congress councillors, IBC24 News reported. BJP may demand fresh voting.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
