Bharatiya Janata Party's MP from Alwar, Yogi Balaknath from his Lok Sabha seat on Thursday (7 December). He met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and submitted his resignation, Aaj Tak reported.

This comes a day after 10 BJP MPs, who won in the recently held Assembly elections, resigned. However, Balaknath and MP from Chhattisgarh's Surguja were absent yesterday.

Balaknath contested the assembly election from the Tijara constituency in Alwar and won defeating Congress candidate Imran Khan. There is considerable speculation about his name in the discussions about the Chief Ministerial contenders in Rajasthan.

Balaknath's supporters address him as the 'Yogi of Rajasthan.' He is portrayed as a dynamic leader, who discusses 'Hinduism and Hindutva.' Balaknath belongs to the same Nath tradition as Yogi Adityanath.
