Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on Monday (16 July) caused landslides and road blockages.
Additionally, the Ganga River reached the danger mark in Devprayag and the warning level in Haridwar due to the release of water from the Alaknanda River dam.
Officials have reported that the Ganga River reached a height of 463.20 metres, resulting in flooding at Sangam Ghat, Ramkund, Dhaneshwar Ghat, and Fuladi Ghat.
The water level rose significantly after the release of 2,000-3,000 cusecs of water from the GVK hydroelectric project dam on the Alaknanda River.
In Muni ki Reti area near Rishikesh, the water level of the Ganga rose to 339.60 metres, which is 0.10 meters above the warning level of 339.50 metres.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
