Election officials in Udupi district have said that K Annamalai, the Bharatiya Janata Party's Karnataka election co-in charge did not bring cash with him while arriving in a helicopter as claimed by Vinaykumar Sorake, the Congress candidate from Kaup constituency.
Officials said that they searched the helicopter, the car and the hotel room in which Annamalai was staying and only found some personal belongings like clothes and books.
The claim by Sorake has been used by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) to target Annamalai after its leaders were accused by him of amassing huge wealth through corrupt means.
