In another instance of strength show, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav reminded Congress that it could form the government in Madhya Pradesh in 2018 with the support of the lone SP MLA.
"SP had one seat which formed the Congress government. When Congress was seeking support, SP first came in their support. Then only the governor invited them to form the government," Yadav told ANI.
Notably, Yadav and the MP unit of Congress have come at loggerheads with each other recently as SP was not allocated seats under seat-sharing arrangements and instead decided to field candidates against its INDI Alliance partner Congress at scores of seats.
Yadav also stressed that the strength of the INDI Alliance is PDA (Picchde Dalit Alpasankhyak Adivasi). PDA (backward class, Dalits, minorities and tribals) is SP's policy.
He also targeted the BJP for forming government in MP by getting some Congress MLAs in its fold, despite having lesser number of MLAs after elections. In 2018, the Congress won 114 seats, while the BJP won 109 seats.
