Justice N Anand Venkatesh of the Madras High Court today (10 August) ordered the Registry to issue notice to Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy and his wife in the suo moto criminal revision case against their acquittal in a disproportionate assets case by a district court in Vellore on 28 June.
He also asked the Additional Public Prosecutor to take notice on behalf of the state.
The copy of the order must be placed before the Chief Justice, he added.
The case would be heard again on 7 September.
Ponmudy and his wife were accused of amassing dispropotionate wealth to the tune of Rs 1.4 crores. While acquitting them, the judge had said that the prosecution was not able to provide sufficient evidence to hold them guilty.
