Chief Minister MK Stalin has recommended the induction of TRB Rajaa, the MLA from Mannargudi constituency in Thiruvarur district to be inducted into the Council of Ministers.
Rajaa is the son of senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TR Baalu. He is also the secretary of the party's IT Wing.
According to a press release from the Raj Bhavan, he would be sworn in at 10.30 AM on 11 May.
While Rajaa has been elevated, Milk and Dairy Development Minister SM Nasar has been dropped from the Cabinet.
Nasar had faced flak after a video of him picking up a stone and throwing it at DMK party workers went viral. He was also criticised for claiming that the central government had started levying Goods and Services Tax (GST) on milk, while trying to justify the hike in price of the state owned Aavin milk packets.
According to political commentators, Chief Minister Stalin may subsequently announce changes in the portfolios of other ministers.
