Chief Minister MK Stalin spoke to Higher Education minister and senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader, K Ponmudy over the phone from Bangalore and assured him of full support from the party after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches at premises connected to him and his son P Gowthamasigamani yesterday (17 July).
Before leaving for Bangalore, Chief Minister Stalin told journalists that the raids were being conducted to divert attention from the meeting of opposition parties.
Ponmudy was later taken to the ED's office for questioning. He returned home early this morning after the completion of questioning around 3.30 AM.
He has been asked to appear before the agency again today (18 July) at 4 PM for further questioning.
