Tamil Nadu: HRCE Minister's Son In Law Arrested On Charges Of Rape; Daughter Says Police Under Pressure Of Father Who Is Opposed To Their Marriage

Satish Kumar, the son-in-law of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HRCE) minister, PK Sekar Babu, has been arrested by the police.

He has been accused of raping a woman after promising to marry her. The case was registered in 2018.

Sekar Babu's daughter, Jayakalyani has alleged that her husband was falsely implicated in a case by the police, at the behest of her father, who did not approve of their marriage. Both of them belong to different castes.

According to the police, the woman had filed a complaint in 2018 claiming she was in a relationship with Kumar for four years and had consented to a physical relationship as he had promised to marry her. However, Kumar later refused to keep his promise.

In December 2022, a video of Jayakalyani went viral on social media. In the video, she said that she and her husband were forced to take refuge in Karnataka to protect themselves from continued threats to their family and friends from minister Sekar Babu and his associates.
