The Telangana High Court today (24 August) disqualified Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLA from Gadwal and declared runner-up DK Aruna as the new MLA from the constituency.
Krishnamohan Reddy was disqualified for filing a false affidavit in the 2018 Assembly elections.
The judge imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh and ordered him to pay an additional Rs 50000 as costs to the petitioner.
Aruna, who was in the Congress then, is now a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The other BJP MLAs in the state are Eatala Rajender from Huzurabad and Raghunandan Rao from Dubbak. T Raja Singh, who was elected from Goshamahal on a BJP ticket, was suspended by the party in August 2022.
