Indian Arms For Indian Soldiers

Dear Reader,

On 27 August 2024, the Indian Army placed an emergency order for 73,000 SIG 716 G2 rifles from the United States. And this prompted a poignant post by Vivek Krishnan, the founder of SSS Defence, on X.

His post served as a heartbreaking commentary on the state of Indian defence manufacturing, as articulated by my colleague Prakhar Gupta in his piece on Swarajya.

This was followed by yet another article where Prakhar argued how the Indian Army's rifle crisis is a mess of its own making.

Our latest edition of the weekend magazine "Indian Arms For Indian Soldiers" covers this issue pertinent to our defence manufacturing sector and the loopholes in indigenisation efforts.

Also in this edition, we cover RSS veteran Ram Madhav's return to the BJP fold for the Jammu & Kashmir elections. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi articulated what many have been thinking — "Batenge To Katenge". Arush Tandon breaks down the phrase which elicited passionate responses from across the political aisles.

If you're a subscriber, you already have full access to this issue and all of Swarajya Digital. Just use your email ID to login and read them uninterrupted.

This also gives you access to not just these weekend editions, but also articles, monthly magazines, quizzes, podcasts, and more.

Have a great weekend,

Anmol N Jain
