First stop: Chhattisgarh
Dear reader,
In India, people often think royal families live very fancy lives and act like they deserve special treatment and that's it. But that's not always true. Take the Mysore royal family, for example.
However, today, let's talk about another royal family, the Jashpur royal family.
In Chhattisgarh, the Jashpur royal family is leading the ghar wapsi movement for decades now - they've been helping people return to their ancestral faith for a really long time. These kind of stories don't often make it to the main news. But at Swarajya, we have the space and interest to bring it to you. We urge you to read it. It talks about how the Jashpur royal family is making a difference in Surguja through ghar wapsi initiatives.
The story, written by our associate editor Sharan, is one of the first of Swarajya's 50 ground reports for this election season.
Our aim is to bring you stories from all over India, shedding light on various aspects of life and politics that are usually ignored. These reports matter because they give a platform to those whose voices aren't usually heard and offer fresh viewpoints to our readers.
But creating these stories costs money. We rely on your help to keep this project going. Your support will cover expenses for on-the-ground research and thorough reporting, especially when we're just getting started.
If you like what we do, please consider supporting our ground reporting project - your contribution means everything.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
