Dear Reader,

In 2021, the Supreme Court revoked the OBC reservation for the Maratha community in Maharashtra. This ruling has since plunged the state into a fresh wave of protests and political maneuvers.

The government recently responded with a way to re-include the Marathas in the reservation paradigm but - predictably - there is a complication. Wouldn't the inclusion of Marathas reduce the size of the pie for other OBCs?

There is now a divide among OBCs with one group wanting to keep their size of the pie the same. The Shiv Sena - BJP - NCP government has two choices - increase the OBC reservation limits or fight out the protests. What will it do ?
