A decade!
A decade!

Dear reader,

Today’s a bit of an occasion for us at Swarajya—10 years since we had a humble ceremony to launch swarajyamag.com.

We will of course be marking our 10 year anniversary of our print editions in February 2025 in a grand fashion.

Today In 2014, when this site started operations, it was in the context of an ascendant BJP and a victorious Narendra Modi sweeping to power in 2014.

Ten years later, BJP and Narendra Modi are still in power. However, they definitely need a reinvention and re-imagination of their own brands. It is not too different from Swarajya either.

For many years, Swarajya flew the flag of defiance in a hostile media ecosystem. In 10 years though, nearly every media platform today has adopted the worldview that we championed, as their own.

We dont know if this change was a result of a genuine change of heart or wily business opportunism. Be that as it may, what worked for Swarajya in 2014, no longer works in 2024. The stories we should tell, the narratives we must push and styles we must adopt have to be different.

In a sense, both in Delhi and at Swarajya, re-imagination of our own self and a subsequent articulation of the same is the dominant theme.

In this juncture of change, what remains constant is a worldview, our core political and cultural convictions and our design of building a reader centric media company.

You are amongst those readers who can identify a truly rooted media platform in the cacophony of TV studio dramas and loud shouting matches.

On the tenth anniversary of Swarajya, join us in our journey by getting an annual subscription for Rs 999.
