Counting of votes for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and nine other municipal corporations began on Thursday. The local body polls are witnessing a contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, Congress, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Samajwadi Party (SP).
The Shiv Sena had won 75 of the 227 seats last time in Mumbai. The BJP had won 31, the Congress 52 and the NCP 13.

(3:30 PM) Results for 199/227 BMC wards: Shiv Sena wins 84 BJP wins 80, Congress wins 31, NCP wins 9, MNS wins 7, SP wins 6, AIMIM wins 3 and Others win 5.
(3:09 PM) “Party chief will take a call on post election coalition. We will take a decision in some time on the matter of coalition. Don’t be hasty. We won’t be hasty to take the decision,” says Shiv Sena minister Diwakar Raote.
"We will introspect and find out reasons for our performance in Mumbai, which was not as per expectations. We have worked hard to reach the number one position in Maharashtra and have taken the party beyond Mumbai and Thane," Maharashtra BJP chief spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said.
(2:40 PM) In Thane, the Shiv Sena is leading in 34 seats. BJP is leading in 12 seats and NCP in 16. In Nagpur and Nasik, the BJP is maintaining its lead in 90 and 28 seats respectively. In Solapur, Amravati and Akola, the BJP is leading in 24, 24 and 20 seats respectively.
(2:23 PM) In Pune, the BJP is leading in 65 seats. The Congress is leading in 11 seats, NCP is leading in 32 and Shiv Sena in 8.

(2:17PM) BJP candidate Atul Shah and Shiv Sena leader Surender Bagalkar got same numbers of 5496 votes. Recounting ordered in Ward 220 in Mumbai.

(1:40 PM) Clashes between BJP workers and Shiv Sena supporters outside the BJP office in Mumbai, The Financial Express reports.
(1:32 PM) In Nagpur, the BJP is now leading in 40 out of 151 seats. The Congress is leading on 10 seats. The MNS and the Shiv Sena are trailing behind in all seats.
(1:12 PM) In Mumbai, the Shiv Sena is now leading in 92 seats, the BJP is leading in 54 and the Congress in 20. Sena is just 24 seats away from getting the majority and be in power in BMC.
“Sanjay Raut said that BJP couldn’t even manage 40 seats. We have crossed 50. This is like a slap on his face,” says BJP’s Vinod Tawde.

(12:33 PM) Three official wins in BMC for the Shiv Sena. It is now leading in 85 while the BJP is leading in 52. In Pune, the BJP is leading in 46 seats while the Shiv Sena in 7. In Nagpur, the BJP is still leading in 22 seats while the Congress is leading in 6.
In Solapur, the BJP is leading in 22 seats while Shiv Sena is leading in 12. Congress is leading in 6. In Thane, the Shive Sena is leading in 25 seats while the BJP is leading in 6.
(12:10 PM) Nagpur: The BJP is leading in 20 seats, the Congress in 6 and the NCP in 1. The MNS and the Shiv Sena are trailing behind in all seats.
(12:04 PM) Mumbai: The Sena is now leading in 75 seats. The BJP is leading in 42, the Congress in 14 and the MNS in 9. BJP has crossed its 2012 tally of 31.
