Nationalist Congress Party chief, Sharad Pawar, and industrialist Gautam Adani met in Ahmedabad on Saturday, coinciding with the inauguration of India's inaugural Lactoferrin plant. Pawar also visited Adani's residence and office during his trip.

The meeting came amidst Rahul Gandhi's sustained critique of Adani. Pawar, a prominent figure in the I.N.D.I. Alliance, has previously even hosted the alliance's last meeting in Mumbai.

Notably, this wasn't the first instance where Sharad Pawar's proximity to Adani had been brought to light. Earlier this year, Pawar dissented against the opposition's call for a joint parliamentary committee to investigate allegations against the Adani Group, suggesting a Supreme Court-monitored committee instead.

Even in his In his autobiography, Lok Maze Saangati, Pawar lauds Gautam Adani as diligent, unassuming, and grounded. Pawar also recounts how he encouraged Adani to foray into the thermal power sector.

In response to images posted solely by Sharad Pawar's handle from the event, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla remarked:

"I just hope that Sharad Pawar ji won’t be abused by likes of Alka Lamba again merely because nobody in INDI Alliance takes @RahulGandhi or his utterances seriously. This picture speaks a thousand words provided Rahul Gandhi is willing to listen".

Sharad Pawar's closeness to the Adani Group and his frequent meetings with his nephew Ajit Pawar, even after Ajit joined the NDA, has reportedly led to discomfort within the I.N.D.I Alliance. It is safe to assume that his latest display of camaraderie with Adani will only add to it.
