A day after BJP's impressive victory in three states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (4 December) took a jibe at Opposition over its negative politics.
Addressing the media ahead of the Parliament's winter session, PM Modi said that the election results of the four states were encouraging for those who are dedicated to the welfare of the common man and the bright future of the country.
He said that with the election results, the country has rejected negativity.
"This temple of democracy is a significant platform for people's aspirations... we look forward to everyone's cooperation. I urge all the honourable MPs to come with maximum preparation and to have in-depth discussion on whatever bills are placed in the House," he said.
"...If I speak on the basis of the recent elections' results, this is a golden opportunity for our colleagues sitting in the Opposition. Instead of taking out your anger of defeat in this session, if you go ahead with positivity and learn from the defeat and leave behind the tendency of negativity of the last 9 years, the country will change their point of view for them...," PM Modi said.
Urging the Opposition to change their attitude and do not protest "for the sake of it", he said, "This is for your benefit. The Opposition has a significant role in a democracy. Please understand it. The country does not want to halt on the road to development," the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi asked the Opposition to consider changing their negative politics.
"If your (Opposition) image becomes synonymous with nafrat (hatred) and negativity, this is not good for the democracy," he said.
PM Modi further said that the people of the country are developing a deep dislike for Opposition's negative politics but if they change, perhaps the voters's dislike may turn into 'mohabbat'.
