Canadian Lawmaker Jagmeet Singh, Rupi Kaur Among Pro-Khalistan Twitter Accounts Blocked In India

Several pro-Khalistan Twitter accounts have been withheld in India in response to a legal demand.
It is, however, uncertain whether the account had been withheld on demand of Central agencies or Punjab Police.
Twitter accounts Canada’s New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh, Canadian poet Rupi Kaur, the voluntary organisation United Sikhs, and Canada-based activist Gurdeep Singh Sahota and others were blocked.
"When anyone tries to access these Twitter accounts from India, it says they have been withheld in response to a legal demand," news Agency ANI reported.
Further, Twitter account oof Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann has also been withheld.
The blocking of Simranjit Singh's account is significant as he is a Lok Sabha MP from Punjab's Sangrur.
Earlier, Mann while briefing the mediapersons in Mansa on Sunday, expressed fear that Amritpal Singh, chief of Waris Punjab De, “might be eliminated by Punjab Police.”
Mann was elected MP in June last year by defeating Gurmail Singh, candidate of the incumbent government.
On 18 March, Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown against pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh and his associates in Punjab. Security personnel from Central agencies, including CRPF in the state for the G20 summit, joined the operation with Punjab Police. The Police arrested 78 associates of Amritpal Singh during the operation. However, Singh is still at large and the police is trying to nab him.
Among other accounts that were withheld in India was that of Canadian New Democratic Party Leader Jagmeet Singh, who is know for his anti-India comments.
The development comes after Khalistan supporters attacked Indian High Commission in London on Sunday.
Further, Indian consulate in San Francisco was also attacked by a group of Khalistan supporters.
India has raised the issue with both US and UK governments and sought action against those responsible for the attacks.
