Income Tax department officials are conducting searches at multiple places linked to EV Velu, who is the Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports.
According to a report by OneIndia Tamil, the raids are underway at over 100 locations including his house, colleges, industrial establishments and hotels. The report also states that raids are being conducted at the premises of a number of government contractors.
The Income Tax department had recently conducted raids at the premises of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP S Jagathrakshakan.
