Meta’s lawyers are investigating outgoing COO Sheryl Sandberg amid claims she misused company resources, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Several employees have been interviewed in connection with the investigation by Facebook-parent Meta, the WSJ reported. The probe has been progress since last fall.
According to an earlier report by WSJ on her eve of her departure, the company was also examining whether she had improperly used company resources in planning her upcoming wedding.
Meta lawyers are reportedly scrutinizing the involvement of Facebook staff with Sandberg’s foundation Lean In, and their work to help her promote her most recent book, "Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy". Incidentally Sandberg cited a number of Facebook employees in the acknowledgments section of Option B.
The company is also investigating reports that Sandberg used Facebook media team in a bid to kill a negative story about her former partner, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
Sandberg, widely credited with transforming Facebook to a social media behemoth in partnership with founder-CEO Mark Zuckerberg, announced her departure from the company after 14 years.
