Uttar Pradesh: Deputy CM Maurya's Rebellion Against Yogi Adityanath Appears To Have Settled

The signs of rebellion shown by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appear to be diminishing.

The Monsoon Session in the state legislature started yesterday (29 July), where Adityanath was seen alongside his two Deputies, Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.

Later in the day, Maurya addressed BJP OBC (Other Backward Classes) Morcha state executive meeting and emphasised the target of winning in the 2027 UP assembly elections.

However, on the lines of his earlier statement that the organisation is bigger than the government, Maurya said, "Elections are not won on the power of the government but on the strength of the party."

The Deputy CM cited examples of the victories in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and 2017 UP assembly elections when the BJP was not in power but still won due to party's strength.

He set the target of breaking the 2017 record in 2027 and urged party workers to work upon the mistakes of 2024. He also urged workers to not get influenced by what's going on in media and social media.

This can give a sigh of relief to the UP government as the speculations about Maurya's rebellion were flared in the media and social media only.

Then earlier today, the Deputy CM also took part in the Cabinet meeting led by Adityanath. Notably, he had skipped two Cabinet meetings since Lok Sabha election result.

The turnaround comes after Adityanath and Maurya, both took part in the Council of CMs and Deputy CMs meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 27-28 July.

Union Ministers Jagat Prakash Nadda, Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah were also present in the meeting along with CMs and Deputy CMs of other states.

It is believed that senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders might have intervened to resolve the issues between Adityanath and Maurya.

Earlier, senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders had also stepped in to resolve the conflict.
