French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the guest of honour for their traditional military parade on 14 July, which Modi has accepted, according to the French presidency.
The Indian armed forces will join the French forces in the parade, according to the presidency, marking Bastille Day.
The storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789 has been commemorated in France for more than a century. The national holiday typically involves "solemn military parades and easygoing dancing and fireworks."
Modi's trip will coincide with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the "strategic partnership" between the two countries.
"This historic visit will also allow joint initiatives to take on the big challenges of our time, such as climate change, loss of biodiversity and the achievement of sustainable development targets," a statement said.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
