Britain will proceed with its trade talks with India, despite allegations from the Canadian government that the Indian government had a hand in the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada.

According to a spokesperson for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the British government remains in contact with Canada regarding these "serious allegations," but assures that it will not affect the ongoing trade negotiations with India.

The spokesperson emphasised that the trade negotiations will continue as planned, irrespective of the allegations.

He stated that it is now the responsibility of Canadian authorities to conduct their investigation, and the British government will not interfere or make any assumptions beforehand.

Regarding concerns about countries involved in trade negotiations, the spokesperson clarified that the British government would raise such concerns directly with the concerned government.

However, in the case of the ongoing negotiations with India, the focus is solely on the trade deal, and the British government has no intention of merging unrelated issues into the discussions, the spokesperson maintained.
