Hyderabad Metro (L&T HMRL)
Three additional trains were inducted into the Hyderabad Metro to handle peak traffic along the Miyapur-LB Nagar line, Hans India has reported.
Trains ran at an interval of three to five minutes on the newly completed corridor-I of the Hyderabad Metro. The managing director of Hyderabad Metro, N V S Reddy, said the higher frequency of metro would continue during peak hours.
The 29-km long corridor-I of Hyderabad metro was recently completed after the Ameerpet-LB Nagar metro line was inaugurated on 24 September. The newly inaugurated 16-kilometre Ameerpet-LB Nagar metro received a massive public response on the first day of its operation with 19,000 passengers making use of the metro line.
On day two, the number of riders touched 69,000. The number of commuters using Corridor-1 has bounced from 45,000 to 1,14,000. During peak hours on Sunday, the corridor- I handled close to 1.8 lakh commuters.
The Hyderabad Metro project is touted to be the largest public-private partnership in the world. L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad has invested over Rs 12,000 crore in the project. The project has secured a viability gap funding (VGF) to the tune of Rs 1,458 crore from the Central government.
