A BJP leader identified as Joydeb Barman has been shot in the stomach by alleged Trinamool goons in West Bengal’s Coochbehar, Republic Bharat has reported.
The report claims that the TMC goons used an assault rifle AK-47 to target the BJP leader. The police presence was beefed up following the attack.
The political violence in Bengal doesn’t seem to be abating. As per a Times of India report, at least five BJP workers were injured in the region on Monday night (20 May) due to attacks by TMC goons.
All the seven phases of Lok Sabha voting were marred by violence which was mainly targeted at members and supporters of opposition parties, especially the BJP.
Some of the violence includes, a BJP camp being set ablaze, murder of a BJP worker, vandalism of a BJP candidate’s house, convoys of senior BJP leaders being attacked and more. Fingers have been pointed at the ruling TMC dispensation for these incidents.
