Voting Underway For Second Round Of Elections In Uttar Pradesh: Here's How These 55 Constituencies Voted In 2012, '14, '17, And '19

Voting for the second phase of assembly elections is underway in Uttar Pradesh. Today, 55 constituencies, across nine districts are holding elections. These nine districts are in the western and central-north part of the State.
The main challenger to the incumbent BJP in the region is the the Samajwadi Party, this time in alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal. The BSP and the Congress are fighting it alone this time.
In 2012, the BJP won only eight of the 55 constituencies polling today. The SP won 27, the BSP, 15, and the Congress, three. Two of the remaining seats were picked up by the Peace Party and the Ittihad-e-Millat Council.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP led in 38 of the 55 constituencies going to polls today and the SP in 15. The Congress led in two and the BSP in none.
In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP picked up 38 of these 55; the SP, 15 and the Congress, two. The BSP did not win in any of the 55.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when the SP-BSP-RLD were in an alliance, the BJP led in 27 of the 55 constituencies and the Opposition alliance led in the remaining 28. The Congress led in none.
Uttar Pradesh will see election in seven phases with the last date of polling on 7 March and counting of votes on 10 March.
The next round of polling in the State will be on 20 February.
