West's willingness: As former Indian Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal rightly pointed out, Ukraine has got West's backing and its response depends on the West's support.

    • The West says that it is preserving Ukraine’s sovereign right to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military alliance and the European economic sphere.

  • However, the US has its own selfish motives to fulfill like it wants to replace Russia as Europe’s principal energy provider but it failed to do so for its own reasons.

  • Russia's stand: Yesterday, Russia carried out the biggest aerial assault against Ukraine since it started the war in February.

    • Russia has always made it clear that it is against the enforced unipolarity of America, and certainly since 2014 when America forced a regime change in Ukraine.

  • Its political objectives are an end to an eastward expansion into Ukraine by NATO, and the de-Nazification of Ukraine.

  • 4. 🚀 Vikram Sarabhai And Tamil Nadu

Bust of Vikram Sarabhai at Birla Industrial & Technological Museum

Vikram Sarabhai is known for initiating space research and helping develop nuclear power in India.

    • Today, we remember the 'Father of the Indian Space Program' on his death anniversary.

  • He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1966 and the Padma Vibhushan (posthumously) in 1972.

  • Tamil Nadu lost an opportunity of hosting India’s only rocket launch pad which was then built in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota.

    • This was because a DMK Minister frustrated Vikram Sarabhai when he was scheduled to meet Tamil Nadu CM CN Annadurai for the selection of the site.

  • The complete incident is narrated in Ready To Fire: How India and I Survived the ISRO Spy Case.
