With two terminal buildings, two retail blocks, concourse and a huge roof plaza, a new land mark — the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station — is coming up in Lucknow at an estimated cost of Rs 377 crore.
Executed by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), the Gomti Nagar station redevelopment project is nearing its completion.
Expected to be fully ready by early next year, Gomti Nagar station will be the first station redevelopment project to be completed by the RLDA.
Spreading over 10 acres of land, including the north and south terminal building at both ends with connecting bridges, the redeveloped station will have 14 lifts and 13 escalators to handle 40,000 passengers per day as against the current capacity of 4,000 passengers.
The roof plaza connecting south and north terminals will have waiting halls, information kiosk, big screens with train information and food stalls.
The station is being redeveloped on engineering, procurement and construction mode by the contractor BL Kashyap & Sons and expected to be ready by the new year.
Keeping the dense traffic in the adjoining areas in mind, there will be two elevator roads to connect the station like airport at both end.
Two retail blocks are also being developed on 4 lakh square feet land for commercial purposes, at both sides of the station. Retail blocks will have shopping plazas and other commercial activities. All modern amenities will be provided at the station for passengers and there will be segregation of incoming and outgoing passengers at the station, said a senior RLDA official.
The station will have sewage treatment plant, solid waste management, water tank and a power substation.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
