Madhya Pradesh: Foundation Laid For Rs 5,722 Crore Worth Highway Projects To Improve Connectivity To Ujjain

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of State Gen VK Singh, Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan and Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, on Thursday (24 February), laid the foundation stone for 11 National Highways (NH) projects with a total length of 534 km worth Rs 5,722 crore in Madhya Pradesh.
These 11 NH projects include a 41 km long four-lane NH 752D connecting Ujjain with Dewas to be built with Rs 842 crore, Rs 2,609 crore four-lane NH project of 136 km connecting Ujjain with Karot. Also, a 69 km long four-lane highway connecting Ujjain with Dhar is included in these projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari said these projects would provide easy transport facilities to the pilgrims and tourists. He said better connectivity would be available from agricultural markets adjoining Ujjain.
The Minister said Ujjain-Dewas Industrial Corridor would develop boosting employment generation and develop the entire Malwa-Nimar region.
"With border areas as storage centres, time and fuel will be saved and travel will be safe," he added.
The Minister said the government is taking continuous steps to build next-generation infrastructure to ensure smooth connectivity, faster development, better security and prosperity for all.
