Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav unveiled an ambitious new strategy for the economic development of the state, including a landmark proposal to merge Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and parts of Dhar district into a single metropolitan city.
The announcement was made during a recent conference, where Yadav reaffirmed his government’s commitment to driving economic growth and improving regional infrastructure.
Yadav underscored the vast economic potential of the state and outlined steps to attract significant investments.
"By creating a metropolitan area, we will unlock tremendous commercial and business opportunities, paving the way for a bright future in Madhya Pradesh," Yadav declared.
The Chief Minister who has been touring major cities to promote Madhya Pradesh as a business destination, highlighted the success of the Industry Conclave organised by state government in Coimbatore and Bengaluru, reports Times Of India.
Significance
Merging Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and parts of Dhar district into a single metropolitan city will create a major economic hub in Madhya Pradesh. Indore, being a prominent commercial centre, will anchor the region, attracting businesses, industries and investments. This will foster economic growth and make the area a powerful engine for the state’s economy.
Ujjain’s historical significance as a key trade route between North India and the Deccan adds strategic value to the merger. By revitalising this ancient route with modern infrastructure, the region can enhance trade, facilitating access to southern and western markets. This will benefit local businesses and boost exports.
The merger will combine the industrial potential of Dewas, the commercial power of Indore, and the agricultural strengths of Ujjain, creating a more diverse and dynamic economy.
This larger metropolitan area will also become a focal point for attracting national and international investments which will contribute to long-term economic prosperity for Madhya Pradesh.
