Fulfilling the increasing demand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (18 December) flagged off the second Vande Bharat train from Varanasi to New Delhi, heralding a new era of comfortable and enhanced rail travel experience.
The 16-coach blue and white indigenous built semi-high speed train with 160 km/h speed is also the 35th Vande Bharat Express being operational across the country till now.
The first Vande Bharat train between Varanasi and New Delhi was launched by Prime Minister in February 2019.
Earlier, the Railways had launched a second Vande Bharat train on the Trivandrum-Kasaragod route to clear the rush.
Equipped with the advanced air suspension system, Vande Bharat train ensures a smooth and safe journey and enhanced riding comfort for passengers.
The Vande Bharat train has superior passenger amenities such as onboard Wi-Fi infotainment, GPS-based passenger information system, plush interiors, bio-vacuum toilets with touch-free conveniences, diffused LED lighting, charging points beneath every seat, individual touch-based reading lights.
Vande Bharat train has two driver cab coaches on both ends which enable quicker turnaround time at destinations.
In keeping with the Prime Minister's vision of make-in-India, major systems of the train have been designed and built in the country at the premier coach manufacturing unit of Indian Railways the integral coach factory at Chennai.
It has superior designs, interiors, and speed providing the passengers a comfortable and convenient travel experience. The trainset is also equipped with the most advanced safety features including the Kavach technology.
The Vande Bharat train has been designed to increase Indian Railways' green footprint by dispensing with the power cars and saving about 30 per cent of electricity with the advanced regenerative braking system.
