The Kolkata Metro's Joka-Taratala route connecting southwestern suburbs of the city will soon be operationalised.
Six stations -- Joka, Thakurpukur, Sakherbazar, Behala Chowrasta, Behala Bazar and Taratala -- are ready for operations, a senior official said on 18 November.
'Mandatory clearance for the project from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has been obtained,' Metro Railway General Manager Arun Arora said.
He said that preparations are going on in full swing to start commercial operations on the Joka-Taratala stretch of the Joka-Esplanade Metro project.
Following trial runs on the stretch since September, the CRS inspection was held on 10 November.
Arora said that Rs 2,477.25 crores have been spent by the Indian Railways for completing the 6.5 km stretch.
