As part of an intense crackdown on Islamic terrorists following the blasts on Sunday (21 April), security forces raided a safe house of terrorists in the east of the country- during which 15 individuals have died, reports The New Indian Express.

The forces shot back in retaliation when terrorists opened fire at them while they stormed the house in the town of Kalumunai.

After they were cornered, three male terrorists blew themselves up, killing three women and five children along with them.

Acting on a tip off that those responsible for the were holed up in a built up area of Kalmunai, a joint operation between the police and the army was carried out, some 370 kilometres (230 miles)

The encounter happened hours after the security forces raided the location where the Islamist radicals recorded a video pledging support to ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi before carrying out the deadly Easter bombings.

An ISIS flag and uniforms similar to those worn by the perpetrators of the Easter attacks in a video have also been recovered from the place.
