Fifty-six types of tests will be free in Himachal Pradesh’s hospital from the new year. The state department is launching the Free Diagnostic Service Scheme in the state. This scheme will be launched by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
All tests related to blood, ultrasound, X-ray, ECG, kidney, liver, sugar etc. will be free of cost under this scheme. Hitherto, the patients had to spend money varying from Rs 2,000 to 10,000 on these. The patients, now, will benefit as the free trial facility was being provided to Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) patients.
People from all classes shall be able to access this facility. Tenders from companies have been invited for this scheme as reported by Amar Ujala.
In the first phase, this free test facility will be done in Medical Colleges, District Hospitals and Community Health Centres, where there are laboratories. While, where the laboratories don’t exist, the health workers shall take the samples of patients and to the laboratories and bring back the reports to the patients.
