The 108 km Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, one of Gujarat’s most anticipated infrastructure projects, is on the brink of completion with nearly 98 per cent of the work finished.

As per a Desh Gujarat report, a few critical works still remain.

Construction at two key railway overbridges—one over the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and another across the Bhavnagar railway line has reached advanced stages, with steel bridge erection and one-side bitumen laying completed, while expansion joints are being finalised.

Near Juval Rupavati village, relocation of GETCO’s 66kV substation has cleared a long-standing obstruction, with retaining wall and bitumen work largely complete.

An interchange providing direct access to the Dholera Activation Area is also nearing readiness, with earthwork currently underway on the ramp sections.

General finishing tasks, including lane markings and signage on small stretches, are expected to be wrapped up shortly.

Built initially as a four-lane corridor, the expressway’s design allows future expansion to 12 lanes. Toll plazas and interchanges, including those at Pipli linking the upcoming Dholera International Airport and Vataman, have been completed.

Once operational, the high-speed corridor will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) to just 40–45 minutes, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and industrial growth in the state.

The expressway, which links Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Ring Road to Adhelai village near Bhavnagar, is integral to supporting Dholera SIR, India’s first greenfield smart city and home to key strategic projects, including Tata Group’s Rs 91,000 crore semiconductor manufacturing plant.
