The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has started the proceedings to identify and seal the properties of the rioters in several districts of the state on Saturday (20 December), reports Times of India.

Earlier on Thursday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced tough measures to combat the anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) rioters, and promised to seize the property of every rioter and use its funds to repair the damaged public property.

Taking on the rioters who indulged in widespread arson, CM Yogi also revealed that he is personally monitoring the situation and has soon called a high level meeting.

Reportedly, the Muzaffarnagar administration sealed 50 shops belonging to alleged rioters who caused damage to public property.

The campaign, which is intended to act as deterrent to mob-violence, assumes significance because of speed and scale. The report also says that UP government has formed panel to look in to the videos of riots and identify vandals in the state capital Lucknow. As per police, stringent action will be taken against perpetrators once identified.
